“…part of getting to know yourself is to unknow yourself—to let go of the limiting stories you’ve told yourself about who you are so that you aren’t trapped by them, so you can live your life and not the story you’ve been telling yourself about your life.”

Therapeutic Approach

I believe that therapy is an opportunity for each individual to gain insight about themselves and their relationships, find purpose, and connect with their inner strengths. It is important to me that my clients feel valued and cared for in our work together and I prioritize the client/therapist relationship as the primary tool for change. My hope is that clients can feel free to be their authentic selves in our space together. I also believe that humor is healing and enjoy leaning into laughter and celebrating the wins with my clients.

I invite collaboration with my clients to support them in getting the most out of their therapy experience. My goal is to create an open and secure space where clients can feel empowered and heard. I also value the importance of delivering trauma informed and culturally sensitive care. I am dedicated to social justice advocacy, as well as ongoing anti-racism and anti-oppression work.

Specializations and Interests

My areas of special interest include trauma, self-esteem, anxiety, relationship issues, domestic violence, and life adjustments/transitions. I am passionate about advocating for survivors of abuse and I work to create a safe and empowering space for clients to access their voice and find healing. I especially enjoy helping clients with boundary setting, building confidence, and developing self-compassion.

Biography

I received my Bachelor of Arts in Communication from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and worked in various industries during and after college, including event planning, marketing, and recruiting. Through those experiences I learned that I loved working with people, hearing people’s stories, and finding ways to support them in their goals. I realized that I had a passion for helping others to pursue meaningful changes in their lives, which motivated me to pursue a career as a therapist. I attended Roosevelt University and received my Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling.

Outside of being a therapist, I enjoy being active, practicing yoga, being a dog mom to Frankie, caring for my plants, and exploring new restaurants and coffee shops in Chicago. Some of my self-care practices include reading, Netflixing, cooking a favorite meal, and a hot cup of tea.
